Emona awarded for ICT innovation

Emona Instruments has received a Highly Commended placing in the "Learning" category at the fifth Secrets of Australian ICT Innovation Competition Awards Ceremony in March.

The company was awarded for its Australian designed and manufactured internet-based telecommunications learning equipment, net*TIMS.

The award was presented to co-developers, Alfred Breznik and Carlo Manfredini by the Minister for Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Sen Helen Coonan.

“TIMS shows that niche high technology products designed in Australia can achieve success in overseas markets,” Breznik said. “We export TIMS to 25 countries and have over 120 universities and colleges alone in the US using TIMS products, including Princeton University and Johns Hopkins University.”

net*TIMS is laboratory equipment designed for university-level telecommunications and signal processing courses, which is controlled by students across the internet or LAN, and can implement practically any form of modulation or coding.

It is based on the company’s TIMS laboratory lab hardware, which is used in a traditional lab by students building telecommunications modulation and coding schemes.
