Spoštovani gospe in gospodje, spoštovani sobratje duhovniki, dragi slovenski rojaki in prijatelji!
Z velikim veseljem Vas pozdravljam na našem 39. slovenskem – mladinskem koncertu, ki ga vsako leto prirejajo slovenski katoliški misijoni - verska in kulturna središča v naši Avstraliji – Sydney, Melbourne in Adelaide. Po dveh letih smo spet prišli v naše glavno mesto Canberro, ki letos beleži svoje stoletje, in v naš slovenski dom, na Slovensko-avstralsko društvo Triglav v Phillipu. Tudi zato, da vtisnemo nov kamenček v naš mozaik – v naše dogajanje, v našo zgodovino in dediščino, vključno v našo bogato bero naših koncertov, »da se bo tudi slovenska skupnost na ta način pridružila praznovanju naše avstralske prestolnice,« kot je zapisal naš p. Ciril A. Božič OFM OAM. Da pa ne bo ostalo samo pri kamenčku v mozaiku ali v mogočnem spomeniku, bomo danes in jutri znova skupaj poskrbeli, da bo naš slovenski dom tukaj in sedaj resnično topel z nami in za nas, za vse, ki prihajajo k nam.
Hvala Vam, dragi rojaki in seveda, farani, za Vaše gostoljubje, za delo in skrb, za požrtvovalnost in pozornost, za potrpljenje in razumevanje, ki ju prav tako potrebujemo. Hvala, da smo skupaj. Naj naše vsakoletno veliko srečanje obrodi sad za danes, za prihodnost in za večnost.
Naj znova spomnim, kar sem povedal v pozdravni besedi na predlanskem 37. koncertu tukaj v Canberri »Žive priče v pesmi in besedi« - da ob bližnji 40-letnici zberemo spomine in pričevanja, doživetja, fotografije, posnetke o naših slovenskih mladinskih koncertih in pripravimo jubilejni zbornik in film ob 40-letnici, če nam bo mogoče in kakor nam bo mogoče.
Vsem, ki boste (ali bomo) danes nastopali, pa želim obilo uspeha in še več dobre volje, ki si jo bomo delili med seboj.

LETO JE SPET NAOKOLI in naš 39. slovenski mladinski koncert odpirajo učenci Slomškove šole Kew – skupina Metuljčki, ki jih že dobro poznamo. Skupino sestavljajo: Ivy Blatnik, Daniel in Marcus Bogovič, Christina in Olivia Pase, Evie in Sabrina Johnson in Anthony Petelin. Zaplesali nam bodo folklorne plese. Razveselimo se skupaj.

The next 3 perfomances will be performed by Genika Pivar Kavaš and her Grandchildren Chloe, Anton and Denis Kavaš – Wilding from Conder, ACT. Genica will play accordion and sing a song to her Mum. Chloe will play 5 short songs on piano, her brothers Anton and Denis will sing the well known song of Bee- keeper by Lojze Slak.

Zapiski nevrotične gospodinje – Notes by Neurotic Housewife
Danica Petrič prihaja iz Sydneya – iz Merrylandsa, nedaleč od slovenske cerkve sv. Rafaela. Od vsega začetka vodi molitveno skupino Srca Jezusovega, pri sv. mašah bere Božjo besedo, se zanima in nas pridno obvešča o posameznih članih občestva, zlasti še o bolnih in ostarelih. Vsa leta pridno piše pesmi, izdala je že nekaj zbirk – knjig svojih pesmi. Skrbi pa tudi za dobro voljo in za humor, ki ga vsi potrebujemo.
Danica Petrič from Merrylands, NSW, lives not far from St. Raphael's Slovenian Catholic Church in Merrylands. She is a leader of Sacred Heart Prayer Group, a Reader of the Readings at Our Holy Masses and also cares to visit the elderly and sick members of Our Church Community. For many years she has written many poems and published some books of her poems. But Danica also cares for humour which we all need

Nicole Samsa iz Greenacre-a pri Sydneyu je stara 15 let in obiskuje 9. razred kolegija Santa Sabina v Strathfieldu, NSW. Poleg šole je končala 7. razred glasbene šole za flavto, ki jo igra od svojega 8. leta, in šolo za klavir. Igra v šolskem orkestru in v ansamblu Wind, sodeluje pa tudi pri športnih dejavnostih: v plavanju, atletiki in pri hokeju.
Nicole Samsa from Greenacre, NSW, is 15 years old and attends Year 9 at Santa Sabina College Strathfield. She is studying music at school and has recently completed her Grade
7 AMEB Flute Examination. Nicole started playing the flute as an 8 years old. She is a member of the School Orchestra and a Wind Ensemble. She is also currently learning to play the piano and studying for her Grade 3
AMEB Musicianship. Nicole also participates in a variety of sports such as swimming, athletics and hockey.

Olivia Pase je stara 8 let in obiskuje 3. razred šole Malvern Central School v Melbournu. Letos je začela v šoli igrati klavir. Rada igra tenis in sodeluje pri gimnastiki.
Njena sestra Christina Pase je stara 11 let in obiskuje 6. razred v Malvern Central School v Melbournu. Štiri leta igra violino pri učiteljici Karen Love, že od svojega 3. leta pa pleše. Pred kratkim je končala 5. stopnjo baleta – Ballet RAD exam. Obiskuje plesno šolo The Jazz Centre v Malvernu, kjer se uči balet, “tap”, “ jazz” in “Theatrical”. Prav tako obiskuje Slomškovo solo v Kew. Rada igra tenis in odbojko.
Olivia Pase is 8 years old and attends Year 3 at Malvern Central School in Melbourne. She has just started playing the piano this year at school. She also enjoys gymnastics and playing Netball.
Her sister, Christina Pase is 11 years old and attends Year 6 at Malvern Central School in Melbourne. She has been playing the violin for 4 years at her teacher is Karen Love. She has been dancing since she was 3 years old, and has just completed her Grade 5 Ballet RAD exam. She attends The Jazz Centre in Malvern, where she learns Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Theatrical. She also enjoys playing Tennis and Netball.

Simon in Mateja Koštrica iz Canberre – kdo ju ne pozna – na naših koncertih, na slovenskih prireditvah in tudi v cerkvi pri Božjih službah? Oba obiskujeta St. Francis Xavier College, Simon je v 11. razredu, Mateja v 7. razredu. Že sedmič se bosta predstavila na naših koncertih. Čeprav imata prostega časa manj kot včasih, še vedno najdeta čas za svoje najdražje in prijatelje ter za veselo slovensko pesem.
Simon and Mateja Koštrica from Canberra – Who does not know them? – At Our Concerts, Slovenian parties and celebrations in our clubs or at the Holy liturgy in the Church? They both attend St. Francis Xavier College (Year 11 and 7). They will perform the seventh time here. They have less spare time now, as School takes up most of their time, but also they ever find a time for their family and friends, for the joyful Slovenian song.

Jože and Jožica Koštrica, Marija Valenci and Father Darko Žnidaršič are all well known performers on our stages. Jože and Maria will sing the Medley of three Slovenian Folk Songs. Then Jožica, Jože and Fr Darko will sing another one – »Domača hiša« - My Home.

Rdeča kapica - Little Red Riding Hood
Učenci Slomškove šole Kew nam bodo zaigrali znano igro Rdeča kapica. – Že lani so nam otroci zaigrali kratek vesel prizorček, tokrat se nam mladi igralci predstavljajo drugič, nekateri mlajši otroci pa prvič. Igro je pripravila in režirala učiteljica Slomškove šole mag. Julie Kure – Bogovič. Najlepše se zahvaljujemo staršem in starim staršem naših otrok za podporo in pomoč in za pripravo kostumov.
The students from Slomškova šola Kew will perform a short play “Rdeča kapica” – “Little Red Riding Hood”. This is the second time Slomškova šola are performing a play at the Slovenian Youth concert. For some of the younger children this is their first performance. The play was co-ordinated by their Slomškova šola teacher Julie Kure- Bogovič. Many thanks also go to the children’s parents and grandparents for their assistance with the props and costumes. – Please, make these young performers welcome.

Brata Harry (10 let) in Dominic Žužek (12 let) prihajata iz Younga in plešeta Tap in balet že več kot 5 let. Nastopala sta že na raznih tekmovanjih v NSW in ACT. Harry je tudi že zmagal na nekaterih tekmovanjih.
Harry (10 years) and Dominic Žužek (12 years) are dancers of Tap and Ballet and have been dancing for over 5 years. They perform at eisteddfods all over NSW and ACT and Harry in particular has been winning his competitions.

Methodius Church. Marcus enjoys playing
sports and guitar. He has been playing guitar
for 5 years. Today he will entertain us again, as
this is his fourth Youth concert performance.

Slavko Blatnik iz St. Albansa ter Janez Kure in Jože Matkovič iz Geelonga so navdušeni harmonikarji, pravi ljudski muzikantje, ki prav radi razveseljujejo svoje rojake z glasbo in petjem. Slavko Blatnik je ustanovni oče in podpredsednik slovenskega društva St. Albans, Jože Matkovič in Janez Kure pa sta izredno delovna člana slovenskega društva Ivan Cankar v Geelongu. V obeh društvih poznajo in cenijo njihovo požrtvovalno delo, prav tako v širši skupnosti v Viktoriji.
Slavko Blatnik from St. Albans and Janez Kure and Jože Matkovič both from Geelong are enthusiastic accordions players at Slovenian gatherings or parties. They delight Slovenians by music and singing. Slavko Blatnik is Foundator Member of Slovenian Club at St. Albans, but Jože and Janez both very enthusiastic members and workers at Slovenian Club Ivan Cankar in Geelong. Their work is well known and very appreciated in local Slovenian Communities and in whole Our Community in Victoria. They encouraged one another to perform for the Slovenian Youth Concert and have come together to play again!

Moj očka ima konjička dva – My Father Has Two Ponnies (Slovenian Folk Song)
Oskar Urbas je star 18 let in domačin v našem glavnem mestu Canberra. Odkar je naredil prve korake v šolo, igra klavir, 5 let pa tudi trobento. Obiskuje 12. razred v Marist College v Canberri, igra v šolskem jazz orkestru, na glasbenih prireditvah in koncertih, rad potuje in je ponosen na svoje najdražje in na slovenske korenine. Tudi danes nas bo razveselil na našem koncertu na klavirju in s trobento.
Oskar Urbas is 18 years old and he is in Year
12 at Marist College Canberra. He has played
piano since he started a Primary School
and the trumpet for 5 years. He plays in the
school jazz band, at musicals and at concerts,
he enjoys travelling and is proud of his family
and his heritage. Also at our Slovenian Youth
Concerts is well known and he will entertain
us again.

Andrew Žičkar iz Wollongonga je še en naš stari znanec na naših koncertih, sicer pa vesten organist in mežnar v slovenski cerkvi vseh svetih v Figtreeju ter organist in zborovodja v domači župniji v Corrimalu. prihaja iz Wollongonga, uro vožnje južno iz Sydneya, kjer ima slovenski klub Planica poleg dvorane in hiše tudi cerkev Vseh svetih. V klubu je Andrew tajnik in dober vrtnar, toda nocoj je Andrew med nami kot glasbenik.
Andrew Žičkar from Wollongong, NSW, has been an organist and sacristan at All Saints Slovenian Catholic Church in Figtree – Wollongong and at his home parish of St. Columbkille’s in Corrimal and is well known at our Slovenian Concerts, where he has performed for many years. He is also a secretary of the Slovenian Club Planica Wollongong and maintains the lawns and gardens around the club and the church.

Danica Šajn prihaja iz Sydneya in je učiteljica na All Saints Boys Catholic High School v Liverpoolu, NSW, že dolga leta pa nastopa kot pevka pri Južnih zvezdah, ki vsak mesec pojejo pri družinskih nedeljskih mašah pri Sv. Rafaelu v Merrylandsu, in na drugih prireditvah v naših klubih ali društvih, v naši cerkvi in dvorani. Letos so se Južne zvezde opravičile, Danica pa bo poskrbela, da bo spet veselo – po slovensko in po angleško!
Danica Šajn comes from Sydney. She is a teacher of Science at All Saints Boys Catholic High School in Liverpool, NSW. Danica is also a singer at the choir “Južne zvezde” – “The Southern Stars”. The current ladies have been together for 11 years and they have performed at many Slovenian functions at St. Raphael’s Slovenian Catholic church and various clubs. They sing at our Family Sunday Masses every month at St. Raphael’s. The ladies of “Južne zvezde” – “The Southern Stars” have apologized for this year, but Danica will take action and sing, that will be entertaiment again – Slovenian and English!
