Slovenia has Unveiled New-Look Passport

As of June 1, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia have begun issuing the next generation of the Slovenian Passport. This new version has 100 security features, updated biometric protections and a new look visual identity. The Government wishes to advise that despite the launch of the next generation, existing passports are still valid and there is no requirement for you to replace it with this new generation, until yours expires.

From Mountains to the Coast: A Two-Wheeled Journey Across Slovenia’s Landscapes, Culture and Communities

VOSA Treasurer and broadcaster Branko Fabjančič, together with his riding companion Marko Krope, are set to embark on an exciting motorbike adventure across Slovenia. Throughout June, they will explore some of the country’s most breathtaking destinations.

It’s that time of year again to come together to make a real difference for kids living with kidney disease.

Aleks Lajovic and his mate Damien Novak are gearing up for their second Kidney Kar Rally, and this year they’ve set an ambitious goal of raising $8,000 for this incredibly important cause.

The rally kicks off on August 8 in Canberra and spans eight days of adventure, challenge, and purpose. If you’re able to spare a few dollars, your contribution would mean a lot and go a long way in making a positive impact.

Although there won’t be a Dobrodošli Doma program for the summer of 2026, the Office for Slovenians Abroad and Around the World have compiled an excellent series of events, for the next month, celebrating Slovenian culture, film, literature, and work of Slovenians around the globe.

Important Information for Slovenian Citizens in Australia

Q & A Slovenian Citizenship and Documents Required

Q: I want a Slovenian passport. How do I apply?
To be able to apply for a Slovenian passport, you will firstly need to become a Slovenian citizen.
If you are already a citizen, please contact the Embassy to make an appointment for a passport application.

Documents required for all citizenship processes:

Completed and signed application form
Birth Certificate with an Apostille Seal and an official translation into the Slovenian language
Completed form for Registration of Permanent Address
Completed form for Registration to the Electoral Roll
Consular fee

Please note that all personal matters such as marriage, divorce, change of name etc. have to be entered into the registry as well. That requires original certificates with an Apostille Seal and an official translation into the Slovenian language.

Pater Darko obvešča :

V nedelja 7.junija je praznik sv. Rešnjega Telesa in Rešnje Krvi. Pri sv. maši poje mešani zbor. Po sv. maši bomo imeli evharistično pobožnost v cerkvi in blagoslov z najsvetejšim na štiri strani neba.

Hrvaška cerkev sv. Antona padovanskega v Summer Hillu vabi na praznovanje zavetnika sv. Antona. V sredo, četrtek in petek bo tam tridnevnica: ob 6.30 zvečer frančiškanski (serafinski) rožni venec, ob 7.30 zvečer sv. maša in češčenje Antonovih relikvij.

V soboto, 13. junija na praznik sv. Antona, bo Slovesna sv. maša ob 10.00 dopoldne in mladinska sv. maša ob 6.30 zvečer. Pri obeh sv.mašah bo blagoslov otrok in lilij.

V nedeljo, 14. junija bo tam slovesna sv. maša ob 11.00 in piknik. V frančiškovem letu lahko dobite popolni odpustek zase ali za naše rajne.

V postni akciji “Project Compassion” 2026 smo zbrali $ 1,410.55. Bog povrni!

V mesecu Juniju vabljeni k pobožnosti vrtnic, ki jih imamo enako kot šmarnice, vsak četrtek in nedeljo pri sv. mašah.

Osmrtnice(Death Notices)

IVAN RUDOLF, 84, died on 7th March in Wollongong. His farewell was on 17th March in Wollongong. On Monday 25th May 2026, the service was held at Wollongong Memorial Park.

MARIJA MARTINA HARTLEY, née FIDERŠEK, died in Fairfield, NSW on Friday 29th May. She was 94 years old, born in Maribor. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, 12th June 2026, at 12:00 – noon at the parish church of St. Benedict in Smithfield (St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 16 Neville Street, Smithfield). She will be buried at Pinegrove Memorial Park.

Celebrating 35 Years of Slovenian Independence and Over 55 Years of Community

As we commemorate 35 Years of Slovenian Independence, we will also reunite generations of members, volunteers, families, supporters, and friends who have helped shape the club over the past 55 years.

We’re delighted to welcome Alpine Echoes, who will keep the celebrations going throughout the evening with a fantastic mix of Slovenian favourites, classic dance tunes, and community spirit.

Interested in Learning Slovenian Folk Dancing ?

Following the success of the workshop, we are exploring the possibility of establishing monthly Slovenian Folk Dance classes in Canberra and perhaps Sydney as well led by a local teacher.

This would be a wonderful opportunity to:

Learn traditional Slovenian dances
Connect with Slovenian culture and heritage
Meet new people and make friends
Enjoy a fun and active social activity
Help preserve an important part of our cultural traditions

No previous dance experience is required, and people of all ages are welcome to express their interest.
