Archer’s BMX World Championship Update

Archer didn’t get the result he was hoping for, but finishing 51st out of 83 riders in the world and making it through to the 1/8 finals is a huge achievement in itself. After crashing in his first moto, he showed incredible determination to bounce back with a 4th and then an awesome 2nd place finish to qualify. Unfortunately, a 7th place finish in the 1/8 meant his racing came to an end.
One of the highlights for Archer, was meeting riders from all over the world and soaking up the whole experience. He was also absolutely chuffed to have current World Champion Jesse Asmus as his team manager – a pretty special memory to take home. The week was so much more than results for Archer. It was about stepping outside your comfort zone, giving it everything, meeting amazing people, and making memories.
Along with your family, VOSA are so proud of our young BMX champion.

This is Sami El’Baghd, who organised the stone being donated. He is also laying the stone, grouting, sealing and modifying the steel scroll work to fit after the stone has been laid. Thank you Sami for your dedication and hard work.

Introducing Naša Miza: The Slovenian Australian Cookbook – Your Family Recipe Could Be Published!
Every Recipe Tells a Story. Every Story Brings Us Home.
Do you have a treasured family recipe that’s been passed down through generations?
We’re inviting Slovenian Australians from every state and territory to help create something truly special—a cookbook that celebrates our food, our families, and the stories that have travelled from Slovenia to Australia.
We’d love you to share:
- A favourite family recipe
- A short story about the recipe—who made it, when it was enjoyed, or why it holds a special place in your family
- A photo of the finished dish, your family, a treasured handwritten recipe card, or a special memory connected to your story
- If your recipe has been adapted for Australian ingredients, measurements or our climate, we’d love you to include those tips too. Tell us what substitutions you’ve made, any measurement conversions, or techniques you’ve found work best in Australian kitchens so others can successfully recreate your family favourite.
Our dream is to include recipes and stories from every Australian state and territory, showcasing the incredible diversity of the Slovenian Australian community from coast to coast.
Share your recipe. Share your story. Help us create a cookbook that every Slovenian Australian family will be proud to call their own.
