VOSA Newsletter- A Vital Weekly Email Service Connecting the Community
Last Sunday, VOSA Sydney proudly celebrated the first anniversary of the VOSA Newsletter in the Father Valerijan Jenko Hall, at St Raphael’s Merrylands. The occasion was an opportunity to celebrate and reflect upon the achievements of the newsletter over past year and thank all those who play a significant part in contributing to its growth and success. To our loyal subscribers, thank you for your support.
The event was filled with joy, laughter, fantastic food and meaningful connections. In attendance was H.E. Ambassador to the Republic of Slovenia Canberra Mr Marko Ham, Honorary Consul to the Republic of Slovenia, NSW Mr Aleks Lajovic and Mrs Claire Lajovic, Three Professors – Alojzija Sosič, Mateja Bartol and Mojca Nidorfer from the Faculty of Arts- University of Ljubljana, and Representatives from the Slovenian organisations of Club Triglav Mounties and The Historical Archives of Slovenian Australians.
On behalf of the entire VOSA team, I would like to thank you all for being apart of the first anniversary celebration with us! We hope you enjoyed catching up with friends and we look forward to the seeing what the next year has installed.

Archer Montgomery BMX update
3rd generation Slovenian Australian, Archer qualified for the BMX World Titles last week, to be held in Brisbane, in July this year.
Important Information for Slovenian Citizens in Australia
NSW Driver Licence Requirements (Overseas Licence Holders)
If you are living in NSW and using an overseas driver licence (including a Slovenian licence), the following rules apply:
If you stay in NSW for more than 6 months, you must get a NSW driver licence to keep driving.
If you become an Australian permanent resident or citizen, you must also get a NSW driver licence.
Slovenian licences are not directly transferable in NSW. This means you will usually need to pass a knowledge test and/or driving test.
This is not unique to Slovenia. Several EU countries are treated the same way, including Croatia, Hungary, Poland and Czech Republic.
If you continue to drive after 6 months without a NSW licence, you may be considered unlicensed and penalties can apply.

Nedelja 31.maja je Praznik Svete Trojice in sklep naših šmarnic o Sv. Janezu Pavlu II. Pri sv. maši bo ljudsko petje.
Škofija Parramatta vabi v nedeljo ob 2.00 popoldne na praznovanje 40. obletnice ustanovitve Škofije. sv. mašo v katedrali Sv. Patrika v Parramatti bo vodil Nadškof Msgr. Charles Balvo, apostolski nuncij v Avstraliji.
V mesecu Juniju vabljeni k pobožnosti vrtnic, ki jih bomo imeli enako kot šmarnice, vsak četrtek in nedeljo pri sv. mašah.
Prihodnjo nedeljo je praznik sv. Rešnjega Telesa in rešnje krvi. Po sv. maši bomo imeli evharistično pobožnost in blagoslov z najsvetejšim na štiri strani.

offers 7 engaging online classes,
including two for young learners.
7:00 a.m. Sunday (QLD time): For beginners—kids learn Slovenian through songs, games, and basic grammar.
8:00 a.m. Sunday: For children aged 9+ with some Slovenian knowledge.
Adults: can choose from two advanced beginner classes, one intermediate class, or a 60-hour intensive beginner course.
