Day three provided very different conditions to day two.
Instead of snow, we had dust and instead of 1 degree, we enjoyed a balmy 18 degrees.
Today, we departure Canberra and headed to Narooma via Bodalla and back to Canberra via Michelago. The drive was filled with narrow tracks and some steep drop offs in places, with a few cars coming unstuck and requiring a visit to the “beautician” / panel beater. One poor entry cracked their oil sump on a large rock and had to be towed out.
As we drove through the small town of Bodalla, a large sign on the pub reads: “voted best pub in Bodalla”. We soon realised there was only one pub in the town.
Lunch was served at Narooma, a scenic coastal town. One of the other other entries in the rally was the green keeper at Narooma Golf Course and is a member of the Narooma VRA (Volunteer Rescue Association), so we were hosted at the golf club by the VRA. If you like golf, Narooma gold course looks like a great course.
We saw a very nice boat parked at the bottom of a property, with the dirt driveway looking to steep to tow the boat up to the house.
The afternoon run was full of bumpy and rutted roads. We had to navigate around a lot of downed trees… luckily some of the larger ones were dealt with by a chainsaw. A number of cars got flat tyres today, so far, we are lucy and are puncture free.
