SAAA Brainstorming Brunch – Newcastle
If you happen to be in Newcastle tomorrow, you are warmly invited to join the Slovenian Australian Academic Association (SAAA) for a relaxed brainstorming brunch where good coffee
meets good ideas.
The focus of the meetup will be a fun and creative discussion on re-inventing the association’s presence in the world of social media. It will be an informal gathering – a chance to exchange thoughts, share inspiration, and enjoy a pleasant Saturday brunch together.

Lojze Magajna je prejel posmrtno priznanje AOM žene Marte Magajne.
V sredo 25 Februarja je Lojze Magajna prejel priznanje , ki ga je od Australske vlade prejela njegova življenska sopotnica Marta Magajna.
Priznanje za njeno dolgoletno delo med Slovensko skupnostjo in še posebej pri Klubu Triglav –Medal of the Order of Australia sta mu podelila Mayor of Fairfield Frank Carbone in Dai Lee Member of the Australian House of Representatives.
Ta svečan dogodek je bil zaznamovan s spoštovanjem in ob enem z žalostjo, ker ga žal Marta ni dočakala. Prehitro in prezgodaj se je poslovila.
Lojze je med drugim povedal kako vesela in ponosna bi bila za prejeto priznanje ne samo od vlade Australije ampak tudi od Slovenske in Australske skupnosti in še posebej od tistih, ki so Marto osebno poznali in z njo s skupnimi močmi sodelovali vse
od leta 1972, ko se je včlanila v Klub Triglav .

Slovenian Elections to the National Assembly – 22 March 2026
All Slovenian citizens living in Australia, who have their Australian address correctly registered in the Slovenian register, as a permanent address were sent voting papers from Slovenia and should receive them before the elections.

How International Women’s Day was marked in Sydney and Canberra
Tradicionalnea praznovanja Mednarodnega Praznika Dneva Žena se je udeležilo večje število članov in prijateljev , ki so obeležili pomeben praznik posvečen vsem ženam sveta .Ob njihovem prazničnem dnevu se družba pokloni in zahvali za vse kar predstavljajo v družinskem , družbenem , socialnem in svetovnem oko.
Višek prireditve in o pomebnosti Dneva Žena je bil govor Njegove Excellence, Ambassadorja Republike Slovenije G. Markota Ham in govor Predsednice HASE NSW , Historical Archives of Slovenian Australians NSW,
Gospe Olge Lah.
Po uradnem delu prireditve je za dobro voljo popoldneva in ples zaigral ansambel Alpine Echos Stefana Sernek.

Slovenian Australian Association Canberra
International Women’s Day was celebrated with a truly memorable evening. It was a wonderful gathering that recognised the strength, achievements and contributions of women in our community.
A highlight of the night was the inspiring address by Fiona Carrick MLA, whose words encouraged reflection on the progress made and the importance of continuing to support and uplift women in all areas of life.
Adding a thoughtful touch to the celebration, we presented every woman with a single rose in honour of the occasion. Guests dining at Dober Tek Restaurant also received a token cookie with their meal, a sweet gesture that was warmly appreciated.
It was a fantastic evening of community spirit, appreciation and celebration- a fitting way to mark International Women’s Day.

Pater Darko obvešča :
Nedelja 15. Marca je 4. postna nedelja. Pri sv. maši bo ljudsko petje.
Po sv. maši bo sestanek za pevce in bralce, da se dogovorimo za križev pot naslednjo nedeljo in za petje na Cvetno Nedeljo, Velikonočno vigilijo in Veliko Noč.
Ob 6.00 zvečer je sv. maša v Canberri. V ponedeljek bom tam obiskal bolne in starejše pred velikonočnimi prazniki.
V četrtek je praznik Sv. Jožefa. Srečanje Molitvene Skupine. Ob 10.00 dopoldne, bomo namesto križevega pota molili rožni venecv. Sv. maša bo ob 10.30 dopoldne. Zvečer sv. maše ne bo.
Naslednji teden v sredo 18. Marca bo srečanje Molitvene Skupine. V sredo 25. Marca na praznik Gospodovega Oznanjenja Mariji, bo sv. maša ob 10.30 dopoldne. Označimo si datum že sedaj!
Pirhovanje 2026
Na Velikonočni ponedeljek, 6.Aprila bo sv. maša ob 9.30 dopoldne, kosilo v dvorani ($ 30) in pirhovanje. To nedeljo 15.3., se lahko že prijavite Olgi Konda ali v župnijski pisarni. Imeli bomo tudi srečolov – raffle, zato vas vabimo, da prispevate dobitke. Hvala vam!

Osmrtnice (Death Notice)
On Saturday, March 7, 2026, Ivan Rudolf, long-time president of the Slovenian Club Planica Wollongong, died at Wollongong Hospital. He was 84 years old and was born in Benedni Člčarovci in the parish of Velika Nedelja pri Ormož. The funeral will be held in Wollongong.
