Slovenians recognised on Australia Day
Three outstanding Slovenians have been recognised in the Australia Day Honours List, a prestigious acknowledgment for their achievements and service in Australia. Their recognition highlights the positive impact of their service to the Slovenian community over many decades. Through their dedication and commitment, they have made an important contribution to preserving, promoting and sustaining Slovenian culture here in Australia.
The Late Mrs Martha Magajna – For service to the Slovenian community of Sydney.
Mrs Michelle Susteršič- For service to the Slovenian community of Sydney.
Mr Walter Šuber- For service to the Slovenian community, and to the steel manufacturing industry.
Kapelica Restoration & Memorial Stone project Rookwood Cemetery, Slovenian Lawn 2
Pater Darko has, over the last few years, highlighted the need for restoration of the Kapelica. He has expressed his wish for a Memorial Stone to include the names of the dedicated priests and nuns who served at St Raphael’s.
A working group will be formed to raise funds and manage this project, with a completion date for All Souls Day this year.

Tedenske Novice
Nedelja 1. Februarja je 4. nedelja med letom. Maševal bo P. Albert Wasniowski, Pavlinec, kaplan v Smithfieldu. Pri sv. maši poje mešani zbor.
Pri sv. maši bo tudi blagoslov sveč.
V nedeljo 1. februarja je praznik gospodovega darovanja – svečnica. Sv. maša bo po vzhodnem obredu (grškokatoliška) ob 7.00 zvečer. Maševal bo Fr. Georges Tadourian. Obhajilo lahko prejmete brez težav, le na roke se ne moremo obhajati, ker pomakajo hostije v sveto rešnjo kri. Fr. Georges bo tudi v ponedeljek zvečer pri sv. maši blagoslovljal sveče.
Na svečnico dopoldne ne bo sv. maše.
V četrtek je redno srečanje molitvene skupine. Sv. mašo ob 10.30 dopoldne bo daroval P. Klaudio Milohanović.
P. Darko se vrne iz Slovenije v petek, 6.Februarja zvečer.
Nedelja 8.Februarja je 5. med letom in slovenski kulturni praznik. Po sv. maši bo blagoslov Sv. Blaža.
V nedeljo 1. Februarja bo sv. maša tudi v Figtreeju – Wollongongu, v Hrvaški cerkvi Marije Kraljice, ob 5.00 popoldne.
Bolne in starejše bom obiskal teden kasneje, v petek, 13. Februarja in še naslednje dni, po možnostih in po dogovoru.
V nedeljo, 22.Februarja, bo pri sv. maši blagoslov otrok in šolskih torb kakor vsako leto. Označimo si datum in povabimo drug drugega.
V nedeljo, 22.Februarja, se po sv. maši sestanemo za obnovitvena dela. Na našem slovenskem pokopališču Sv. Rafaela v Rookwoodu moramo obnoviti kapelico, ki ji bomo dodali tabli pokojnih Sester in Patrov, ki so delovali med nami.
Naša dvorana po več kot 40 letih že kliče po temeljiti obnovi strehe in stropa, streha spet pušča po močnem deževju. Nekaj sredstev že imamo, nekaj dobrotnikov bi še potrebovali, ker tudi naša zvonika kličeta po obnovi.
Osmrtnice (Death Notice)
V četrtek, 22.januarja, je v Meadowbank Grove care community umrla Milena Fischer, v starosti 87 let. Pogrebna sveta maša bo v ponedeljek, 2. februarja, ob 10. uri dopoldne v West Chapel Rookwood Crematorium.
