NOTICES FOR MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF CLUB TRIGLAV- MOUNTIES from 11.12.21onwards.
Members of our club diligently adhere to health rules, with masks, distances and other regulations that ensure that the spread of viruses does not occur even if the club premises are very well filled. It is thanks to this serious observance of the rules that the infection has not occurred among many members of the club during the long period of the pandemic.
It seemed that the restrictions would help and that in the middle of December the restrictions would really be released for everyone.
On the other hand, we hear on TV reports that more people are infected in NSW every day - more than 500 people have been infected in NSW to date and nothing is known about tomorrow….
It has not yet been decided under what conditions entry will be allowed next week.
• For the time being, we are still allowed to enter only with a mask and an officially certified certificate of double vaccination against Covid 19 virus.
We will let you know what will be allowed after December 15th!

ODBOR SLOVENSKE SKUPNOSTI NSW -
ZA 30. OBLETNICO SLOVENSKE NEODVISNOSTI - 2021
27.JUNIJA 2021 - PIŠE PREDSEDNIK ODBORA, WALTER ŠUBER.
Dragi moji kolegi Slovenci / Avstralci!
Suberjevi pred Parlamentom v NSW
Kmalu bomo morali izbrati nov ustrezen datum za proslavo 30. Obletnice Slovenije. Opravili smo veliko, trdo delo in sedaj moramo proslaviti!
Hvala za potrpljenje in razumevanje.
S prijaznimi pozdravi,
Walter Suber
POSEBNO OBVESTILO

Triglav Mounties Cycling club
In May, the members of the Triglav Mounties Cycling club and the Slovenian Australian Community came together for a great weekend down in the nation's capital Canberra, enjoying a cycle/run/walk around Lake Burley Griffin, lots
of food and great company. It was great to see new faces from NSW and ACT,
and fantastic to see many people travelling from NSW to attend with many
members wearing their Slovenian Australian Jersey.
The main event kicked off on Sunday morning, with everyone meeting for
breakfast on the Kingston foreshore (near the Canberra Glassworks) for a
warm up coffee and breakfast.
Our walkers and runners had a nice 5-7km walk around the central loop also
known as the 'bridge to bridge walk', commencing from Kingston and crossing
the Kings Ave bridge to Commonwealth Park to then come back around through
the International flags display and the official "Australians of The Year
Walk" whilst taking in the Parliamentary Triangle, home to many of the
city's national attractions.
The cyclists rode along the lake's edge completing all 3 loops and 30km of
cycling. Riding through Jerrabomberra Wetlands Nature Reserve and Duntroon, around to Government House via Commonwealth Park and then back to Kingston with a tyre change pit stop in between.
It was great to see so many people out and about across the weekend embracing the first event held in Canberra - ACT. Thank you to everyone who came and participated including Mr Andrej Kralj, from the Slovenian Embassy and John and Christine Falez for leading the ride. The events enjoyed by all are a great way to get out, be active, get healthy, catch up and make new friends.
Thank you again and looking forward to the next event.
NASLEDNJI DAN- PRVO BALINARSKO TEKMOVANJE
PO ENOLETNEM ODMORU.
Sreda, 10. Februarja , 2021.
Tekst in slike Martha Magajna
Prostovoljci pripravljajo balinisca.

KAJ JE NOVEGA V KLUBU TRIGLAV MOUNTIES v letu 2021.
poroča Martha Magajna, 25. Januarja 2021
In že smo bili ponovno nazaj v starem sistemu.
MARTHA in KATIJA slavita rojstni dan s prijatelji
Drugo slavje z drugo skupino prijateljev v Klubu Triglav
Fabjanciceva in Samsova druzina- Emil Fabjancic z otroki in vnuki.

Rudi Rolih Ml. 8.januarja 2021
Rudolf was born on 23rd March 1929 in Drskovče, a small village near Postojna, Slovenija.
He lived and worked on the family farm, endured the bad years of the Second World War and after eventually joined the Yugoslav Navy where he served on patrol boats.
He met his future wife, Dominika Slavec from Knežak and, together, escaped to Trieste in 1954 where they were married.
They arrived in Australia the same year and were housed at Bonegilla Migrant Reception and Training Centre.
They were eventually relocated to Cringila in Wollongong where their first son, Rudi, was born.
Like many migrants, Rudolf worked for some time in the steelworks until, looking for a better life, the family moved to Kandos near Mudgee NSW and he worked at the Kandos Cement Works.
After a couple of years they moved to Stanmore in Sydney where they stayed for some years while Rudolf got a job as a factory machinist. It was not bad, but they both liked country life
And in 1963 they bought a small farm in Prospect which was much closer to the kind of life Rudolf and Dominika had left behind. He had great skill with his hands and the farm was improved through his and Dominika's hard work.In 1964, their second son, Andrey, was born and in 1966 the family sold up and moved to Blacktown, to be closer to high schools for the boys. The sons grew up and Rudy and Dominika had a nice life, between the family and friends , the slovenian church and the clubs.
Photo:
Druzina Rudija Roliha ob poroki Rudija mlajsega z Sylvijo nee Karbic (04a).jpg
The older son Rudy junior married a girl from Slovenian family,Sylvia nee Karbič and with them Rolihs acquired an extended family. The life was good.
And then Rudy lost his wife Dominika, who passed away in 2004, but he continued to live in Blacktown until early this year when age and ill-health caused him to move to St. Vincent's Aged Care.
He struggled there - he was always an independent man and it was a big change of lifestyle. He particularly suffered from the lack of companionship of his own culture and background and COVID meant that family were often excluded from visiting.
Just before Christmas this year, he was accepted into Cardinal Stepinac Village, just next to Triglav Club which made him very happy as he was again amongst people who he could speak to and food he was used to. We were hoping, his health will improve and he will have more contact with slovenian friends next door, after Corona restrictions will ease a bit.
Sadly, a few days after Christmas found him in hospital again where he passed away peacefully at the age of 91. He was burried on Friday, 8.january at Pinegrove cemetery.
TRIGLAV KLUB -NAŠA GENERACIJA SE POČASI POSLAVLJA
Martha Magajna, 6.januarja 2021
Z ženo Albino sta si uredila življenje v Condell Parku in hitro našla mesto v Slovenski skupnosti, posebno v Slovenski cerkvi in Klubu Triglav.
Rafaela v Rookwoodu.
A TRIBUTE TO ALEXANDER KURET
By Branko Fabjancic on behalf of Triglav Club
Triglav Mounties has lost another member of its family, Aleksander Kuret. Aleksander was a lifelong member of Triglav Mounties. The club played an integral part in Alexander’s life; it was a place where he would often catch up with friends who had also left their homeland Slovenia behind to start a new life in Australia. Aleksander was a key member of the team of volunteers who gave up their time in applying their skills when th new club was being built. Alexander’s carpentry skills were put to good use, a craft he learnt in Slovenia. Today the club not only provides a place for all Slovenians to meet, but it also caters to all nationalities throughout the community. It was members like Aleksander, that allowed us the next generation of Slovenians to foster the Slovenian Culture at Triglav Mounties.
THE EULOGY TO MY NONNO ALEX KURET!
By grandson James Koželj
My grandfather was a gentle and loving soul. He was a hard worker who dedicated his life to supporting his family and friends.
It brings me great joy to see everyone here today to pay respects to Aleksander’s life and memory. On behalf of our family, I would like to thank everyone for coming in spite of these difficult times – your kind words and support is deeply appreciated.
I was very fortunate to live next door to my grandparents growing up. I spent much of my childhood either in the kitchen with Nonna or helping Nonno out with whatever he was doing. Nonno was always doing something. He always seemed to be working – there were always tools scattered around the house.
Today, he will be buried with two of his favourite tools: a handkerchief and a hammer.A handkerchief was something that he always carried. It was always stuffed into one of his pockets – like a magician performing a trick, he would quickly pull it out to blow his nose or wipe his face.
But whilst his hanky might have been his most used tool, the hammer was the one that I had the fondest memories of. His hammer was more than just a tool to drive a nail into a piece of wood. It was his way to show his love. It was used to build, to make, to fix.
For me, it was also a symbol for the time that we spent together, whether it was in his workshop or in the garden. I remember helping him sand wood and wash tomatoes for sauce. He would get me to help him make wine and schnapps. His workshop constantly smelled of varnish and saw dust and sauerkraut. We would spend hours together working on different projects.
At the time, I didn’t always enjoy helping him out – the work was laborious and boring for a young boy. However, as the years passed and I moved out of home, I came to miss this time together. I missed working alongside him – building things, making things, fixing things. He was a patient and thorough teacher. The practical skills that I learnt from him have been invaluable in my life. More notably, though, I learnt so many other important life skills through him. I learnt about resilience and selflessness. I learnt about hard work and respect.
Alek wasn’t a man of many words. He was a man of action. He showed his love by doing. I was a boy when he taught me. The man that I am today was shaped by his teachings.
I sometimes go into his workshop to smell the varnish and saw dust and sauerkraut that is now ingrained in the walls. I go to relive these memories and reflect on these teachings. It smells like my childhood. It smells like my Nonno.---
It was hard to see him stripped of his independence towards the end of his life. After spending the majority of his existence selflessly dedicated to caring for his family and friends, he relied on others to take care of him in his last few months. I know if it were up to him, he would’ve continued working up until the very end.---
Mum and I sat next to him as he took his final breath in the hospital. He left the world peacefully. Deep down, I know that he died happy, having achieved everything that he sought to do in this life. He raised a family and took care of them – that was his calling. I think he did an excellent job.
---Nonno leaves behind a legacy that will remain with us forever. He instilled an ethos of hard work and selflessness. He provided us all with unwavering love throughout his life. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
In memory to my dear Dad , Aleksander Kuret.
Your loving daughter, Irena Koželj.
As I stand here, I see friends and family that have come to say goodbye to my dad. I am humbled at how he has touched your lives with this gathering acknowledging and sharing our joy in the gift that was his life and the pain that his passing brings.
Dad was born on 13 March 1932 on a farm in a small village called Preloze located in the principality of Ilirska Bistrica. He was the middle child of Joze Kuret and Maria Kuret nee Zadnik . Joze was his older brother and Slavka was his younger sister. Dad would love telling me the stories about his adventureous younger days herding the family cows on the green pastures surrounding his home. One day around the age of 9 he encountered some Second World War soldiers roaming his village. In a mischievous moment he thought it would be quite funny to throw a rock at one of them. Boy, did he pay the price for his silly action. He was chased by the soldiers and was given a swift kick up the backside. I imagine his life as a child during the war would have been extremely hard, but it made him resilient and prepared to take on challenges. The one thing I do know is that growing up on a farm not only fostered his love of growing fresh vegetables but also inspired him to make the foods that he had grown up with. When I lived at home, there was always a veggie patch in the backyard. I can remember the smells of different foods which was being prepared usually in his workshop such as the smell of shredded cabbage which would eventually become sauerkraut, cooked tomatoes ready for bottling and the plums being distilled for his slivovitz.
At a very young age dad learnt the art of cabinet making and carpentry at a local trade school. It was here that he met Tone Mahne, who had a beautiful younger sister by the name of Albina. Dad instantly fell in love with her. As life was extremely difficult after the second world war under the communist rule of Yugoslavia my dad and mum choose to make the long trek across the mountains to Italy in July 1956 in search of a freer life. I am in awe at how brave both my mum and dad were during this perilous trek and how terrifying it must have been for them because at any moment they could have been caught and thrown into jail. After reaching the Italian border and applying for political asylum, they were sent to a migrant hostel in Udine sheltering 3000 refugees. On 20 October 1956 both my parents and my mother’s brother and his girlfriend were married. After meeting all the refugee requirements of the Australian Government as refugees, they were accepted boarding the vessel Sydney on 7 August 1957 and arriving in Melbourne on 4 September 1957. They spent a few weeks at the Bonegilla hostel Wadonga before settling in Condell Park. The family was complete when I was born in 1960.
My dad was an extremely hard worker and had no issues finding carpentry work in Australia firstly working for others and secondly working for himself as a self-employed contactor for Neeta Homes which he did for many years prior to his retirement. He told me one day that one of his first jobs in Australia was in a factory located on Canterbury Road Bankstown. The other Australian workers were in amazed at how fast and efficient he was at completing tasks allocated to him. Shortly afterwards one of his co-workers quietly had a word to him and told him in no uncertain words that he needed to slow down as he was making them look bad in front of the boss. During his life in Australia he built two homes for his family in Condell Park. He made all the cabinetry in the kitchen, wardrobes, and various furniture pieces for his last home in Gerard Avenue and the high quality of his tradesmanship is still evident 40 years later. In the last few months of dad’s life every time someone new came into his home he would proudly state that he built the house and that all the carpentry and cabinetry work was completed by him. My dad was a proud hardworking man and his strong work ethic has been passed onto me and his grandchildren.
My dad Aleksander was a gentle man, sincere, loving, kind and a selfless man who lived for his family. I have only fond memories of my childhood as I was blessed to have a dad who spent a lot of time with me. No matter how tired he was after working long hours he always found time to be with me. As a small child I was a real daddy’s girl and I remember I would at times push mum away if I was having quality time with him because I didn’t want her around because he was my dad. I have been extremely close to both my parents living next door to them since 1992. As dad was retired when my children were young he showered them both with love and affection, spending countless hours playing with them in both backyards, in the cubby house, in the sandpit and on the swingset. He was always a hands-on grandfather who pretty much saw his grandson James every day of his life up until the age of 24 when he married Bibiana and Nicole his granddaughter up to the age of 27 when he went into a nursing home in November 2020.
While Dad quickly found a place in Australian society he never forgot his Slovenian roots with both mum and dad maintaining strong ties to the Slovenian community in Sydney through attendance at mass at the Slovenian Catholic Church in Merrylands, attending social functions at Triglav St Johns Park where he was one of the workers who gave of his time to help build the club back in the early 1970’s and spending quality time with his close circle of Slovenian friends at parties, picnics, barbeques, bocce competitions, dances and at home visits. He was a highly respected man in the community because of gentle nature and his willingness to help friends where he could. He was a true gentleman.
I admired my dad for his love and commitment to my mum. They were together for over 62 years and his love for her was endless. He was absolutely broken hearted when she suddenly passed away in May 2019 Theirs was a true love story. They complemented each other. As they grew older it was obvious in areas where mum lacked in physical strength dad carried her. In areas where dad was lacking cognitively, mum carried him. They worked in unison, a team. They were perfect soulmates. Over the last 18 months I could see my dad’s health deteriorating but there was nothing I could do as he was broken man and all he wanted to do was to be with his Albina.
Even though dad is no longer here with us he will never be forgotten, and his grandchildren will always be reminded of the extraordinary man he was. It is incredibly hard to imagine life without him and I am not sure how I will cope not seeing him every day . Dad your love, your patience, your understanding, your wisdom will live on inside me and your grandchildren. You have given us gifts that are more precious than anything in this world. Even though we are all going to miss this wonderful man we should today not mourn his passing but celebrate his life and know that he is resting in peace with his beloved wife Albina.

BINGO : Vsak ponedeljek, torek in četrtek ob 10h dopoldne .
Povzročile so preplah in strah in nove omejitve gibanja in druženja, z močnim in pametnim nasvetom: “OSTANITE DOMA!”
