Skye Linda Kunstelj was born in 1986. Her father is a Slovenian and her mother is a fifth generation Australian of Irish, Scottish and English heritage. She grew up surrounded by Slovenian culture and music due to her father’s involvement in the Slovenian community.
Skye attended Oatley West Primary School and excelled in the arts. She took dancing, piano and acting lessons and competed and won many public speaking competitions. She also competed in NSW and National Tournaments of the Minds in the science category. She was a school president in her final year in primary school and was awarded The Principals Award for Excellence. Skye attended St Vincent’s College at Potts Point where she continued her good work but realised that her passion was theatre. She enrolled in theatre classes at Australian Theatre for Young People, where she won many awards. She also studied Drama and Speech and obtained a teaching Diploma from Trinity College in London. In 2004 she was awarded a place in the Young Actors Studio at NIDA. In 2004 in her final year at St Vincents, Skye became Arts Captain and gained a University Admission Index of 95.9. Today she is in her final year of studies and is involved in numerous theatrical activities.
In a short space such as this, it is impossible to state all of Skye’s achievements. She has accomplished a great number of successes and recognition as producer, actress, manager, director, curator, designer, and much more. Above all, she had also managed Type 1 Diabetes since age five. She is loved by all and an inspiration to others. She is also very interested in Slovenian culture and heritage.
Skye is now in her fifth and final honours year of a Bachelor of Art Theory and Arts at the University of New South Wales where she is writing a thesis as part of the School of English, Media and the Performing Arts on Slovenian contemporary performance group “Neue Slovenische Kunst.”
SKYE Kunstelj je v manj kot v 22 letih življenja dosegla izredne uspehe na polju gledališkega in umetniškega dela, za kar je že žela veliko pohvale in priznanj. Zelo spoštuje slovensko kulturo in tradicije in si je izbrala za tezo v svojem finalnem letu studija slovensko artistično skupino “Neue Slovenische Kunst.”
Well done, Skye, and congratulations.
